In our practices we have so many hidden costs.
To convert to ICD-10, you will need to update your software to handle both ICD-9 AND ICD-10 at the same time, obtain new coding manuals, require your untrained staff to be trained. Provide familiariation education to current staff because doctors will need to improve their documentation, if you have an AAPC coder, that coder will need to be recertified, superbills will need to be updated, insurance contracts will need to be updated, compliance plans will need to be updated, policies will need to be updated. That's just the surface.
